The main harbours are those of Basse-Terre, Gustavia (in Saint Bathelemy), Marigot and Pointe-à-Pitre.

Since the 19th march 1946, Guadeloupe is a France's overseas department. It consists of

in the South : the Saintes, the Désirade and Petite Terre, Marie Galante

and in the North : the island of Saint-Martin (shared with Netherland) and the island of Saint-Barthélemy.

But don't forget the most beautiful place to visit:

* the island of Bouillante and especially the sea bottoms of the island of Bouillante. Peaceful, warm, sunny, quiet. It's perfect for a touristic stay. But the best part of this island is its sea bottom. There's an amazing quantity and variety of fishes, sea animals, corals,...It's the heaven on heart for the scuba divers.
