Carantec
Carantec
Coastal city located next to Morlaix in the Land's End. There's an half-douzen of beaches. Thanks to the low tide, you can walk from the "white strike" beach and arrive directly to one of Calot islands. Besides, be careful with the rising of the tide, not to wet your clothes in the way back.
Let's start with the beach of Kelenn, the biggest white sand beach of Carantec :
There is a big car park, a play area for children, some cafe-creperie which open around 4 p.m., a nautical centre with catamarans, surfboards, ... and a diving centre...

Er ! Sorry. This small island is on the other side of the Morlaix bay. I'll put it in the right place as soon as it's possible...

It is a fairly enclosed bay and as it has a diving board I imagine must be OK for swimming. You can go at times when it is supervised. However the tide was out whenever we were there so sea was quite far away from the lovely beach ! So timing is everything here !
Re: dogs - we were able to sneak our dog onto the end of the beach next to Les Mouettes campsite - its not officially classed as a beach. But we did take here right to the end away from people. There is a website which shows the few beaches they are allowed on. It can depend what time of year you are there. The police do drive around quite a bit in holiday times but even so we did find ourselves on a few isolated beaches when there was no-one around.....
