Coastal city located next to Morlaix in the Land's End. There's an half-douzen of beaches. Thanks to the low tide, you can walk from the "white strike" beach and arrive directly to one of Calot islands. Besides, be careful with the rising of the tide, not to wet your clothes in the way back.

Let's start with the beach of Kelenn, the biggest white sand beach of Carantec :

There is a big car park, a play area for children, some cafe-creperie which open around 4 p.m., a nautical centre with catamarans, surfboards, ... and a diving centre...

One of the others beach of Carantec.

Here're some photos taken along the coastal path which follows almost the whole Breton coast . We start in the direction of the "white strike" beach...

After some steps, you can have a wonderful view on the famous beach of kelenn, as you can see here on the top.

Er ! Sorry. This small island is on the other side of the Morlaix bay. I'll put it in the right place as soon as it's possible...

If you take a walk around the city, you could find the CLAUDE GOUDE municipal parc.

Arboretum lanscaped planted between the 1920 and the 1940

Remarkable flora with one of the most beautiful tree collection of Brittany

Exceptional site with a view on the estuary of the river of MORLAIX

It is a fairly enclosed bay and as it has a diving board I imagine must be OK for swimming. You can go at times when it is supervised. However the tide was out whenever we were there so sea was quite far away from the lovely beach ! So timing is everything here !
Re: dogs - we were able to sneak our dog onto the end of the beach next to Les Mouettes campsite - its not officially classed as a beach. But we did take here right to the end away from people. There is a website which shows the few beaches they are allowed on. It can depend what time of year you are there. The police do drive around quite a bit in holiday times but even so we did find ourselves on a few isolated beaches when there was no-one around.....

I loved Carantec. Driving over to the Ile Callot was very special. Paradise. And then getting back again before the tide turned!
